Nashville Boogie: 2016

15 May

This was the second year for the Nashville Boogie, our state’s very own vintage/rockabilly weekender, and it was even more fun than last year. IMG_3180

While we enjoy the music, for me the event is much more about shopping and the western wear fashion show…this year there were several new and awesome dealers added to the line-up, and Riley Reed outdid herself on the fashion show (getting Kacey Musgraves as a surprise guest is kind of a big deal…).

Here’s my husband looking cute with Kacey and I’m sorry about the photo quality…y’all know that I’m not a great photographer. Any and all good photos on this site are taken by the Mister, not me! She is a tiny little lady. I hear that she takes Pure Barre at the studio where I go…I have taken a LOT of classes there so I must have seen her a time or two but I’m so terrible at recognizing famous people that she is completely safe from me stalking her at the barre.

This is chain stitch embroidery artist, Tina Vines. You can find her “Vines of the West” line of embroidered clutches, handbags and patches on Etsy, and run don’t walk because her stuff is gorgeous! I got the clutch that I’m holding, and a horseshoe patch with rhinestones, and I’m regretting that I didn’t get more. Isn’t she just the cutest?

Speaking of cute, tiny people…I met Bernie Dexter, who is just as delightful as you would imagine her to be. We missed her husband Levi’s performance but I heard that he was great.

Of course, the cutest tiniest lady in any Nashville crowd is Amanda aka “Modern June Cleaver”, who I was so happy to meet in person. I have enjoyed June Bugs and Georgia Peaches for a long time…if you don’t follow her, you should! And yes, I am going to talk about that Enid Collins bag I’m toting around…

I went a little crazy with the Enid Collins bags and bought three! That’s my second road runner box bag. The Hex canvas bag in back came with it’s original price tag…it was $14.00 back in the day. And the bag with the sun is my new favorite. It reminds me of artwork that you see down by the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Sort of a 1960’s Mayan thing. I love it!

This was my outfit for the first night of the Boogie…the car show has little places where you can sit scattered throughout, which is nice. That’s my Enid Collins Music City box purse…it was her special design just for Nashville.

We had a great time and are already looking forward to next year! My skirt is from My Baby Jo, if you are wondering…I was so happy that they came all the way from California to set up a booth. May is the perfect time to visit Nashville, so if you are considering it…it’s well worth it. Congratulations to Muddy Roots Events for putting on such a great event…see you next May!
