Estate Sale Update

7 Mar

002 Here is some of the stuff I got, including a cookbook that I rescued from the free bins at McKay’s. It has no less than 8 recipes for a frosted sandwich loaf, so I had to snap it up. I very much want to have a 1950’s-inspired luncheon where I served molded gelatin salads and frosted sandwich loaves. And fancy punch in little cups with handles. Only I am not sure anyone really wants to eat this food; I just want to make some of these wacky recipes.
That molded salad at the bottom looks both terrifying and intriguing. Want to come to lunch? No? You might have a point.

Here is what I wore yesterday. That yellow sweater is hand-knit…the Mister and I found it in a house in Belle Meade for $1.50. And one of my big Caro-Nan bags. And the same Cole-Haan kiltie loafers I wore for the entire decade of the 1990’s. Actually they aren’t, they are an exact replica of them that I found in the Cole-Haan store two years ago.  At this point, I figure if high-waisted jeans with slim legs have come back into fashion under the guise of “skinny jeans”, I might as well take the ’90’s whole hog and wear my favorite shoes in the entire world that aren’t cowboy boots or Keds.

Hey, did you notice that the sun finally came up? I did, because my mood instantly got 50% happier. I don’t think that I would do very well if I lived in someplace like Seattle. I’m from Arizona and I just don’t deal with constant dark very well. The Mister is always wondering why I’m turning on every light in the house, but I just can’t stand to have it dark. Anyway, good luck if you are hitting the sales and have a great weekend! xoxo, Lauren T

I would like to go but right now I’m thinking it’s not going to work out–but if I do I will look for you!…and THANK YOU for dropping by and buying that red dish. It will look super-cute in your kitchen, I bet!

It sucks that they had to implement such a policy. I understand why, but it sure does make it hard to shop if you don’t have anything to put things in. I am quilty of emptying boxes in the house to hold my stash. Do what you gotta do. I have ended up with a lot of free tubs and milk crates that way.

I’m with you on the sunshine thing. Still ugly in Ohio. Waiting for that spring weather to kick in.
