Repurposing a Single Shaker

17 Feb

I recently came across a single jadite shaker for cheap at the flea market (buy flea market jadite with trepidation, though…the flea is chock full of fakes!). It had lost its mate and the top was in sad shape, but it was jadite. So, it’s been sitting on my kitchen windowsill for a couple of weeks while I considered what to do with it, and finally I came up with something.
I filled it full of Bar Keeper’s Friend, which is an old-school powdered cleaner. BKF is on the less-toxic side, as kitchen cleaners go. I prefer Bon Ami, but Kroger didn’t have that. Anyway…instead of an ugly BKF canister, now I can keep this shaker handy on the counter for a quick kitchen sink scrub, FlyLady-style.

And now if you find a lone salt/pepper shaker that is just too cute to pass up…you have a reason to take it home with you! Not like you NEEDED a reason. I know how y’all are. xoxo, LaurenT

They are also great to keep that special cooking spice in.
