Knotty is Nice

23 Jan

So, I promised on my Apron Strings Vintage Facebook page that I would show you the knotty pine kitchen in a house that I have my eye on. The Mister and I went and saw it today and I confess, I was too excited about it to stop and take pictures. But I have some from the realtor’s website so at least I can share those with you. Except for this picture. We had just walked into the house and the Mister snapped it before I quit thinking about taking pictures. And started liking everything about the house.
knottypineThis is the photo of me with the awesome Tappan stove that I already posted. But let’s face it, can you have too many pictures of this stove? No. No, you can’t.

Also, yes, I do wear yoga pants and Uggs every day because I’m not organized enough to go home after Pure Barre, shower and change before I start doing errands.  So I always look just like this. I am pretty much the worst-dressed vintage blogger ever. Most people who blog about vintage stuff look retro-chic when you see them out. Notsomuchme.

Here she is! This picture makes the kitchen look huge. Don’t be fooled, y’all. It’s not at all large–this is a realtor trick. I don’t mind the size, though. I also enjoy the faux brick linoleum.

This is the exterior of the home. It’s brick. I like brick because I hate paying for someone to paint only slightly more than I hate vinyl siding. So, it’s brick or brick for me. Because I’m not rich enough for stone. I do enjoy a stone house, though. This house has real wood shutters, not vinyl. It’s in such nice shape.

knottypine4 This is where my red dinette goes. Red will look fan-flippin’-tastic in this kitchen! Also turquoise.

You know what would also fit in here? A gigantic Hoosier cabinet. Oh, yes it would! I could buy the heck out of a Hoosier instead of passing them by at sales.

So, that is the house…I am ready to make an offer but the Mister wants me to look at one more.  Estate sales are picking up with several good ones tomorrow and of course, the good ol’ flea market. So, I’ll be back to hunting junk rather than houses! Thanks for checking out the pics–it is fun to share bits of our home search with you. xoxo, LaurenT

So… I can’t tell … is this the same house with the awesome bathroom? Anyway, it looks awesome! I can’t wait to see more of it. Keep us posted! We will be sisters in knotty pine paradise 🙂

It’s actually not, although it has pretty great bathrooms, as well. The house with the killer black and white tiled bathroom had some dealbreaker issues, unfortunately…I wish we could have made it work but it had too many strikes against it. I enjoyed touring it, though. As for this knotty pine beauty…well, they countered with an offer that we will have to counter. It’s a process, right? lol…
