Green Dress

1 Jan

Okay…so I whine a lot on this blog about not really being a good fit for vintage clothes. But, lo, at the Cobb Antique Mall in Marietta, GA…I found a 1950’s deadstock shirtdress that looked like it might fit me…so I tried it on, and lo and behold…I liked it!
It just needed the waist taken in a half inch on either side, which even I, the laziest sewer in the whole world, managed to rally and accomplish.

It came with the tags still attached. I felt bad taking them off after all these years, but I thought you might enjoy seeing them. It’s 50% Zantrel Polynosics Rayon! No wonder we just call it to rayon these days…

After I altered the waist and ironed it, the Mister encouraged me to do my hair (as you can tell, it’s kind of long for a vintage ‘do, but I tried) and let him take some pictures. I am not a natural photo blogger, y’all. I am kind of shy for that, but I think they turned out cute.

Here’s another.

And that’s it. It’s a really cute dress and has deep pleats, which I like. And it fits!

Oh, one more. The booth got fancied up for 2013 with a nice new sign. And nobody was injured in the hanging of it, although I do not advise that you let your husband climb a 12-foot ladder while wearing cowboy boots. There is lots of awesome stuff in the booth right now, including a LOT of Pyrex, so stop on by!  Much love and best wishes for 2013–Lauren T

Aaaah! What a lucky find! You look so cute! I really like the colors on that ” Zantrel Polynosics Rayon” based material (haha). Also, your booth looks like a million bucks with its new sign. Happy 2013!
