Estate Sale Update

7 Dec

I want y’all to know that Sudafed 24 hour cold medicine might be just the thing for what I suspect is mild ADD or just general laziness, because Lordy mercy, did I ever get a lot done today! 004

First off, I picked up a bunch of vintage Fisher-Price at a Crieve Hall sale. You know, people ask me what I sell in my booth and I say mid-century kitchenware and decorative items. But what I actually sell is what I like. I don’t like all old toys, but I have a special place in my heart for old Fisher-Price because they are sturdy, well-made, have fabulous graphics and, well, they are the toys of my childhood.  And I have friends who like them as much as I do and have scoured Ebay to find Fisher-Price playsets for their own children. My daughter has lots of them that I bought for her when she was smaller–and I had a hard time coming up with ones that were even close to this kind of mint condition! So, when I found these, I could not resist.  The farm set is complete with all the fence parts, clean graphics and all of the animals and stuff is inside. It’s VERY cool and if you have a little one, you need this. The only thing about vintage little people figurines is that you do need to supervise your children carefully around them because they are so small that they could obstruct an airway. Just a safety FYI—that’s why the modern Little People figurines are much wider.  These are in the booth right now, wearing Christmas bows and waiting to be placed under someone’s tree.

But, that wasn’t all I got! Look at this cuckoo clock!! Isn’t it delightful? I think so. The Mister…is not so sure.  Now, the clock was a deal because it is lacking it’s cuckoo bird and we don’t actually know if it works. But I called a clock repair shop and the guy said that it is easy to replace the bird. The rest of it seems to be intact and just in need of a good cleaning. Hopefully the clock guy can show me how to set it and wind it. I really love wall clocks and so I am super-excited to get this one up and running. It is from Germany…I imagine that someone brought it home from a fabulous vacation, a little piece of Germany to keep with them. I have been to Germany only once and I enjoyed it very much for the brief time I was there. So, the clock is a keeper and not for the shop…unless it drives the Mister nuts and I have to let it go! I will have to take a video of the cuckoo chime for you when it is repaired and hung, so stay tuned for that.

I am back to the sales tomorrow and then it is a weekend of cookie-baking with my kids. xoxo-LaurenT

The barn door on this one doesn’t have a real loud “moooo”…but it was so nice otherwise that I could not resist. I remember playing with this set and loving it!

I didn’t see a single Dream Pet so somebody must have snapped them up early. Rae, you must have a Dream Pet zoo by now! hahaha
