October Flea Market Haul

29 Oct

You would think that I would have brought home a ton of loot from the flea this month, considering that it is one of the most vendor-heavy months. But you would be wrong. There was a ton of stuff…and a lot of it was just plain awesome. But the prices seemed high. I mean, all the Pyrex was at prices that I charge, or not enough lower to leave even a slight profit margin.  I think that what is happening is that I’ve been picking for long enough that I have a baseline for what I will pay…and it’s lower than it used to be…plus my booth is pretty full. Also, I went on Friday and it was really cold and windy, so I gave up slightly sooner than I normally do.  It was so cold that I told the Mister that I was tempted to go back wearing my full-length mink coat.  I bought this coat last February at a charity auction but the weather IMMEDIATELY turned warm. I mean, winter stopped at.that.moment.  I never had even one chance to wear it. It was like karma was getting even with me for supporting the evil fur industry…which, I know, bad… (it totally was for charity, karma!)

So, I am going to be making up for lost time and wearing it everywhere. The Mister’s softball game? Mink coat. Kroger? Mink coat. Pure Barre? Yoga pants and mink coat. Estate sales? You betcha mink coat.

Speaking of things that do not go with mink coats, but I will be wearing anyway….I did find this awesome medium-sized Caro-Nan bag at the flea market for a whopping $13. It is in fantastic shape and it’s my first painted Caro-Nan. I love mushrooms! This makes three of these that I have found lately. So cute!

I also picked up a few samplers..I’m a big needlework fan and these are just great. I sold the last one I had in the booth and needed to restock…

But that is all I got! Crazy, but there wasn’t much that I couldn’t live without.  I’m thinking that I will be hitting more auctions and picking up my estate sale pace this month to make up for the lack.

Also, if you are in the Northeast, the Mister and I are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers…hurricaine Sandy is going to be very tough and we hope that you will be safe!

Don’t judge, it was for CHARITY.

xoxo, LaurenT

We would love to, Shirley! We just need that house in Atlanta to sell first. Think good thoughts that it will happen soon, okay? Love, Lauren

“How many poor souls had to die for that coat? Just one, my Aunt Trudy!”
No judgement here, I’ve been collecting vintage furs since high school, and for our first anniversary My husband brought me home a full-length wild mink that he found at storage auction. It’s beautiful and I wore it a lot when we still lived in Flagstaff, not so much here in Phoenix:)
