Estate Sale Wrap-up

7 Oct

ImageSo, Thursday’s estate sales (I hit three) were mostly a bust, but I did find a few things in a house in White Bluff. I love this 1950’s vintage kitchen wall clock–I pulled it off the wall; it wasn’t even priced. And I got another little piece of Jadite, an enamel storage box in great condition…and this funny cookbook by “Granny” from the Beverly Hillbillies. Did you ever watch re-runs of that show? I did. I think it’s kind of hilarious…remember Ellie Mae’s “ce-ment pond”? Irene Ryan, who played Granny, really put her all into that role. The whole series had great character actors.

The Mister headed out with me today and we hit a few more sales, the most notable was this Belle Meade sale in a fabulous mid-century house with a great kitchen…it had a built-in wet bar and a built-in butler’s pantry, with an aqua and white color scheme. It really had to have been a kitchen to envy, back in the day.

ImageCute wet bar, right? The butler’s pantry was very similar.

The kitchen cabinets were white with these aqua details, and the kitchen curtains were custom aqua and white striped, pinch-pleated drapes.

I hope that the person who buys this house (it’s not on the market yet) will love the vintage details, but it will probably all be pulled out. It is a shame; some Belle Meade dame sure had a stylish kitchen!

All we found in the house for the booth was a yellow mixing bowl from the Pyrex primary-colored 4-bowl set. I’m starting my third set with this bowl…the Mister spotted it right away. Hope you are having a good weekend and enjoying the cooler weather as much as we are! xoxo, Lauren T.
