Things that are adorable

1 Sep

Isn’t this precious? It’s needlepoint, which I don’t do myself because it is mind-numbingly boring and also I don’t care for stitching with yarn. I have tried. And it’s not like I don’t enjoy OTHER forms of really tedious needlework because I assure you, I DO.  Quilting, ribbon embroidery, smocking, redwork embroidery, counted cross-stitch, etc. If it is very dull and involves embroidery floss, I am almost always a tremendous fan. But I don’t do needlepoint. I’m glad somebody enjoys it, though, because this little umbrella girl is darling. I found the pair at an estate sale on Woodmont that was otherwise very disappointing and had an extremely dangerous parking scheme.  Her little jorts-clad brother with his sweet dog is cute as well, and they would be perfect in a nursery…or in my daughter’s room, if I were keeping them, but I am not!

The colors of these don’t show well in the photo, but they are like little Dick & Jane illustrations in needlepoint.

Tomorrow is the Grand! Opening! of Gas Lamp Too Antiques and you are welcome to drop by tomorrow (128 Powell Place, across from 100 Oaks Mall) for some kind of crazy Mexican potluck scheme which now includes my homemade sugar cookies (helpful hint: Buy a cookie dough scoop. It is life-changing.)  I’m sure that I will be there at some point, so if you see me, say hello!

Happy Labor Day weekend–xoxo, Lauren T
